Legal Requests

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) has a team of solicitors advising parish and town councils on
matters relating local council administration, process and procedure.

This is a free service to councils that are members of CAPALC which is affiliated to NALC.

NALC Legal work on the basis of receiving all documentation related to an issue either in hard copy or electronic
form and then giving advice based on their view of the situation.

If you send copies of documents to Tina at the CAPALC office we will forward these with a Legal Request Form
which CAPALC must issue to the team in our national office for a review the matter.

The Legal team reply directly to the council, by email, with a copy to CAPALC.

Please be advised the team can only advise on the strength of the document set provided so it is important to
include all relevant material and a clear statement of the issue on which you seek advice.

Please do not send originals only copies and make sure you send your information pack to the CAPALC office.
